Leters Engraving question
« on: October 25, 2016, 01:01:35 PM »
I'm using the Banggood Laser Engraver loaded with their original firmware, Also, I'm using the Benbox application as the only editor I know for this engraver. I realized that the only available letters style is straight and they cannot be tilted.  (Italic style)
What does it take to use the Tllted letters?
Much appreciate.

Welcome...!!!

I don't use Benbox software anymore so I will let someone else help you with that part.

I'll also let @Zax answer for his T2 Laser software, but for BenCutLaser (BCL):

BCL has a very rich feature set for creating letters. You start by creating your text in your CAD drawing (soon BCL will be able to do this internally) and then opening that .dxf file inside BCL.

You can now click on the Text object to select it and there is an EditText link that will popup a text properties dialog window.

On this Text dialog, you have all the fonts on your PC that you can choose from. In the CAD drawing, it doesn't matter at all what the Text looks like because inside BCL you can change it.

I haven't used Benbox in a while either, but are you sure there's no italic option. If that's correct then maybe select a font that is italic only.

If you want to try T2Laser it will do what you want using the Sketch feature. It will work with Benbox firmware although best results are with Grbl 1.1c or J-Tech firmware, both of which are included.

Download an italic font and benbox should lase it. If you need more than thar create a .bmp file in paint.net or Corel or whatever and edit it however you want.

BTW the effective DPI of benbox is 254 or 0.1 mm.

So it won't use italic style on any font, that seems really unusual.

Thanks a lot. I tried out the the idea that is similar to what mentioned by Madmark and I Copied and Past Special a Word text into a picture file like PNG which Benbox can handle.

I also believe that it is time to move on and to upgrade to T2. Is it fair to assume that T2 is capable in handling text that is written from Right to Left ?

I am not sure what you mean, right to left.

Like flipped, or something else?

Thanks ZAX, I meant languages that are written like Hebrew where sentences and words are starting on the right. Like so: (hope it will come up)

Arrh! Sorry for my ignorance.  :-[

That's a great question, I suppose if Windows supports it then it should work but you would have to test it and let me know.
