Title: Squiggly lines
Post by: Grossarosa2 on October 07, 2020, 12:08:01 PM
Again you guys are a great help with this stuff, appreciate your help! Trying to make a hatch waste board, but my left to right burns on the line are wavy?  I am hoping it is somehow the roller belt and not a crappy engraver - but not sure if I should loosen tighten or look for other problems. Anyone have this problem before.  My laser is a Universal blue burner....

It is most likely the wheels rather than the belts, either something is loose on the carriage or one or more wheels is out of round. If you disconnect the belt you can feel it by hand and probably identify the issue.

In mine there is also a wavy sometimes ... the support where the module is attached has a gap ... if I send a square, there is a ripple at the beginning of the line after the change of movement in the Y> X direction.

You need to tighten the carriage so it does not have any play, that may require replacing wheels or slightly opening the bolt holes so you can adjust it.

If I recall correctly Steve Nottingham posted a wheel tension adjustment fixture. Might have been 2 or 3 years ago. It fit on the bottom and was designed to reduce the sway.

Yes, that was for the original machine so I am not sure if it would work with the newer design but could be modified.
