I ordered this new version of the A3 on Sept.4 it finally arrived today(10-30).  In the 2 months I was waiting I decided just to go straight to a CO2 laser.  I have a post in the general forum with the same name with more info and member feedback on this version.   It is brand new everything still sealed and and never removed or assembled.   The Lcd screen has a joystick for navigating menus and jogging the gantry.  Including also is a sd slot with a 256mb card.  Ill ship it for free anywhere in the U.S.  the price is 275.00

It is a LCD controller board plus a laser controller. But I have only seen these on more powerful controllers like the RAMPS, Prusa i3, Printerbot and a few other 3D printers. So that laser controller is likely more than a Nano based controller.
Can you decode that a little for me it sounded like a good thing?

Wow that is nice how long did it take?  Is 100 the feedrate or power?

I have a small anodonized flashlight I have been meaning to laser. I can try something if you have a file
Ive attached all the formats I could The size of the logo is based off the biggest oval tag I could find.  Tags are the preferred method of attaching my logo. Thks for the help to all.

I haven't seen that style of machine before, but it does look like a standard Grbl board and then some additional screen/SD card based sender. It may have a 3D printer based firmware but in any case T2Laser should be compatible, and certainly for generating the G-code.

If you are only planning to run the same file from the SD card I could generate it for you with T2Laser, if we can figure out the correct settings.

Thanks Zax  I do plan on purchasing t2 software so your results would be a great help and appreciated.  Im also hoping I can etch anodized tags.  I have any format(dxf, eps,ai,svg)  for the logo if u need it.  Due to its small size I was thinking single line lettering but more detail is welcomed.

My future C02 laser the Boss series have pass thru doors will cost 4000 - 8000 dollars.  The cheap 40watt lasers only have a 8 x 11 capacities.  My pieces avg. for acrylics are 12 x 16.  Mdf pcs for logo burning on economy boxes avg. 16 x 38.  I understand the differences will be different from c02 to the diode lasers.  The diodes at this time seem to be a better fit for me to test my theory.  Spend 400 on a cheap co2 that only can burn test scrap or diodes which offer the ability to engrave on actual finished product.  I hope the skills acquired from diodes will translate into better techniques for the co2 plus I dont have to wait to start having fun.  If anyone has seen a cheap 40 watt laser(under a 1000.00) with a pass thru door or a 12x16 capacity send me a link it would be appreciated.  The 2.5kw I purchased should be here next week Ill post back any advantages the screen offers.  Thanks Cherryman

My first idea was to mount a laser head to my dust shoe on my cnc, burn the logo from before construction
but the image  could get glue on it and the finish sanding would make my logo faded and uneven.  Ill be burning the same logo over and over again this is what attracted me to the sd card slot.  The ability to set the frame on a finished box and burn my logo without a laptop attached looked like a better way.  Ill still revisit the cnc mounting idea once I acquire more skills.  The end goal is to ease myself into lasing to graduate to a C02 to etch acrylic/lexan as tip build up on cnc bits will sometimes leave unwanted swirls when led edge lighting.
I currently use Vcarve Pro 9 and mach3.  My logo size will be about 3 x 1.5

Hi all Ive just purchased my first 2.5kw laser to ease myself into learning feed rates vs power settings.  I currently own a 48x96 cnc router parts machine.  I use the cnc to build custom sub boxes the laser will add the ability to burn in my logo to unpainted mdf enclosures.  I hope to burn red anodized tags for my bedliner finish boxes.  Ive seen the results on engraving names on flashlights and dogtags  so Im hoping to achieve good results with practice but if it fails I can always etch with the cnc.  I will be upgrading to a C02 laser to etch acrylics(cnc etches it now) in the future.  The A3 I ordered may be a clone so Ill update the stepper board if necessary but it comes with its own screen and jogging ability( http://www.ebay.com/itm/EleksMaker-A3-2500MW-DIY-Laser-Engraving-Machine-LCD-Display-Mini-Wood-Engraver/372034497754?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649) so thats why I purchased it for its flexibility not to be tied to a laptop.  Have you guys seen this version of the A3 any info you can provide woul
d be appreciated.  Thanks Cherryman
