Trouble Shooting / A3 Pro Laser Doesn't Fire
« on: August 22, 2020, 01:54:28 PM »

Good afternoon all.

I'm selling one of my Eleksmaker A3 Pro 2.5W diode lasers, so I hooked it up to make sure it still
works, and... it doesn't.

There's power getting to the laser because the fan is on and the LED next to the power switch on
the top of the laser module is on.  But there's no laser light, either when the button is up or
down.

Any ideas on what I can check to find out what's going on?

I have just the controller board and the three-wire to the laser hooked up.  None of the motor
cables are connected.  The controller hooks up to the computer on the USB port just fine.

Thanks.

General Discussion / Re: Larger Frame
« on: July 17, 2020, 06:11:18 AM »

I have a large frame available for sale, contact me privately if you're interested.  It's 40"
square so it's more than big enough to do what you want to do.  Some of the acrylic
corner pieces are broken but can be glued together.

I also have a second frame not quite so large which might be available, I have it loaned
out to someone who might buy it from me but I haven't heard from him in a while.

Let me know.

Hi guys,
wveagle81: Can you post a picture of the open builds 40" square rail system. I would be interested. I am working on a design now to replace the A5  2.0 watt unit I have now with a larger size.

  Thanks
Krypton.......................

Here is what I purchased (ACRO 1010):

Also, I added on 3 NEMA17 stepper motors and a USB cable.

I have a Eleksmaker 2.5W diode laser module I don't use any more.  Also, I have a Endurance Lasers 10w I don't use.  If you're interested in either, let me know.  I also have two rail systems (one small which came with my Eleksmaker) and a OpenBuilds 40" square one I bought.  Plus a box of cables, motors, and other extra parts (including a rotary one of our members here was making).

very impressive Dale,
Would you mind telling us what you expected to sell and what actually sold? I dont plan on giving up the day job but I am curious as to what sold..
Nice work.
=)

I expected the Texas Home and Texas Welcome signs to sell, as well as the Feliz Navidad sign, but it didn't seem that anyone even looked a them.  However, the miniature nativity scenes went fast, as did the nativity crosses.  Some of the earrings sold as did a few of the ornaments.  People were pretty impressed by the light weight of the wooden earrings.  The two Happy Holidays wreaths sold to the same person, and a few of the pencil boxes sold.

Projects / Some of my latest work
« on: November 21, 2019, 08:39:07 PM »

Hello all, it's been a long time since I posted anything, but I've been working harder than ever to learn this thing that is laser engraving and cutting.  I've recently purchased a "new to me" Epilog 30w CO2 laser and have been busily learning its quirks, along with Corel Draw and now Photoshop.  Plus, I retired from my regular job at the end of September (and went back to work part time) so I do have some more time to work on my laser.

I just finished up my first craft show last weekend, and I did pretty well considering how small the show was.  The other vendors were impressed with what I had, and I had traffic the whole show.  Managed to sell quite a few items, although the ones I thought would go quickly didn't move at all.  You just never know I guess.

Anyway, I'm posting a link below to a dropbox folder where I store all of my finished projects.  Feel free to browse around! Ask questions if you have any.

Thanks!

A brand new, slightly used, Endurance Lasers 10W setup, including all cables and controller board.  Plus a complete OpenBuilds 40" square frame including motors.

Original cost for all was:
10W Laser - $550
Frame - $300

Add in the following:

Eleksmaker A3 Pro 2.5W with replaced fan and controller board
Standard A3 Pro frame (17" x 12" I think)
Older 2.5W two-wire laser with power supply and (I think) controller board
Lots of cables, connectors, extra motors, and spare parts.

I'll sell it all for $800 plus shipping.

dont know y u cant get the endurance 10w to work what are u mounting it on

It's mounted on my large OpenBuilds rail set.  It's "working" in that the laser fires and the
whole thing moves around as expected.  But I'm getting inconsistent results.

On 1/16" maple it marks darker and cuts more quickly than my 2.5W Eleksmaker.
On 1/16" mahogany it cut cleanly for the most part in 3 passes.
On 1/16" poplar (I think) it failed to cut cleanly after 6 passes.

I need to dial in my air assist and try all of that again.

I have a 5.5W that sits in a parts box. The focus beam is a rectangle. When burning in one direction  the beam is narrow, turn 90 degrees and it is wide. My 1.6W does a better job of cutting. Only possible use is etching slate and it isn't with the effort.

Is your 5.5W one of the Eleksmaker ones?  I hadn't heard about that anomaly.

I would get the EleksMaker even though it's more expensive, you could also see what deals Endurance has on one of their lower power lasers.

Thanks.  I already have an Endurance 10W which I haven't been able to get working properly
despite help from George.  So I'm planning on returning it and upgrading at least one of my
2.5W Eleksmaker lasers so I'll have something "faster" to supplement the 80W I just received.

Some more recent projects.

The star was for my Chuck Norris costume I wore at a recent 5K race for two of Chuck Norris' charities.

Waiting on my 80W laser to come in so I can expand my workings.

Anyone have any experience with this machine?

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B011MU7M98/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=A2RB21RUGRFV4T&psc=1

I like that it's a large engraving area and has front and back doors for longer projects.
