That could work. With a stone in there it will hold heat longer that the normal oven would on its own. Have to catch it at the right time to put it in our you will burn the crust on the stove.

Give results if you try.

Question, did the proceeds from the coasters cover the cost of the tharopy session?   That could be a win win. You get tharopy with Dr.and tharopy with your hobby at a zero cost.

FAQs For New Users / Re: I know nothing!!

Welcome. I'm basically new to the forum also. Everyone here has been helpful that I've seen.

If it was from China, the driver and copy of benbox they provided me had a virus in it.

Also, being a clone, they will tell you not to allow BenBox to update it. I accidentally got click happy on mine and messed it up.

If you want to use other software, there are some good looking ones. T2 looks good as well as does Bencutlsder.  I'm still learning myself and not ready to sink the extra $ into it yet. I loaded GRBL 1.1 firmware and use LaserGRBL for image to g code conversion.  Tons of tutorials on doing both of those on the web and how to convert images with Inkscape or others software.

If you have any issues finding them, let us know and I'll find the ones I used and send links. Not near the pc currently.

Assembly Help / Help focusing blue laser
« on: February 16, 2019, 05:41:24 AM »
I see a lot of msgs searching the forum on focusing a laser. I understand what I need to do and how to do it. My question for help is around better ways to do it. I like the blue but I have trouble seeing with the blue. When blue LEDs are on around my they affect my vision that I can't focus my eyes. With my laser, even with the green glass on, I am best guessing the dot is the smallest /sharpest. I did read on here that someone else uses welding glasses to get close and focusing and that the green glasses are recommended for more distance viewing.

I'm asking if anyone else has this issue and what you do to get the best focus?
Or, even if you don't have the issue, are there any tricks you can use to get a good focus?

As I was just getting ready to post this my brain farted: Wonder if viewed through my cell camera would help me see?   Well the last kill my camera over time?

Thanks in advance! You all have been great in this forum and I like the group effort to help. It is inspiring me.

Does this forum or server support other forum apps besides tapatalk?
It's an OK app but I'm not sure worth the cost with the issues I'm experiencing.

Hokuro, I finally got time to change $120,121,122 to 4000 this evening and test.  As long as I kept the border speed down to 400mm/min, I got a really good burn for one pass.  Seemed like the laser power flux matched the speed and wow did it move.  I'd not seen it move that fast yet!  You can see in the pic at the top is part of the test I did that had 4-5 passes vs the new one with only 1 pass.

Thank you for the information and the help!!
Thank you all for the info and help!!

On to the next thing!  I think next while I'm testing and doing templates of grey scale, I'll work on putting something on my system to hold the wires up and looking into a blower/pump for the smoke/char.

Please create a section for leather. Leather etching is the reason I started looking into laser cnc. Would love to learn and discuss with others that are doing it.

I know I'm still learning, but I don't think I've seen the option for M3 when opening an image since the first time or two. I think I changed a $ value or option in LaserGRBL to enable laser mode and no M3 since. Maybe my button will not work if I changed it back?

I built one to do the same. Turn it on more so I could position. Here are my settings
Two state button
G code.                Gcode2
$32=0                    $32=1
M4 s5                    M5

Enabled: idle

That works for me.

The one I'm having issue with is building one so the laser comes in low, then moves to the center of the project. I want this to center what I want to burn on.

HoKuro, is that the $120, $121, and $122 Grbl settings?

Ok, I did a test with just a box with a circle in the middle.  Look just like the other.  It isn't burning when the gentry is slowing down or accelerating up.  I know the M4 setting on the LaserGRBL is supposed to vary the laser power to match the speed so you don't burn a hole on slowdown/start up so I am assuming that is the cause.

Could it be LaserGRBL?  Could I not have my settings correct?
Any other free software out there?  BenBox doesn't work for me since I flubbed up the code on the Arduino mini when I got the thing. GRBL 1.1 was the only firmware I found that would work on it after that.

Anyway, Thank again for responses and assistance.

Ok, I created a small 8.3mm x 8.3mm box with a circle in the middle in Inkscape. Did the trace steps and saved the SVG.  When I opened it in LaserGRBL, it opened it as a 30mm x 30mm image. I didn't burn it yet as I got off chasing the squirrel on why it was bigger in LaserGRGL than my Image in Inkscape is.  My bio-hazard was the same in both so I don't understand.  I'm sure I sound like a beginner with ADD... which I am and can be...  I'll kick off the burn still this evening and post results

I try that tonight. When it is burning, I see it lit on those parts just the the light goes dim or is dim on this parts. It was a black line in inkscape so should be no gray line in raster image.
