General Discussion / Talk me out of getting an Eleksdraw
« on: October 04, 2017, 10:27:03 AM »
Hey.
I've had the Eleksmaker A3 engraver for a little over a year now - done a few things with it.
But I'm somewhat unhappy with it - I can't seem to get  it to make completely straight lines.
I've put rubber feet on the bottom, tightened/loosened the screw for the wheels, smacked it with a chicken filet and waved my neighbours dog at it.... but I still get a bit of uneven-ness on straight lines over a few cm.
What are peoples experiences with the eleksdraw?
is it more precise?

Sorry - not extra filter. Checked several times:
Go to layers settings, click none and apply (everything vanishes).
then I click "bottom" and "pads".
Then the copper tracks have their names on them.
They are NOT there when I print the layout - only when I export it as an image.

No. Export the board drawing as png. Import to T2 and invert the colors. Simple
I understand what you wrote, and have tried it.
Unfortunately, when I export an image, rather than printing, some text is still visible, that unfortunately ends up being in places where the copper is supposed to be etched away.
I tried to attach the image in the former topic, to show exactly what I mean, but unfortunately that made that thread act up badly.

Hey.
I made a post in the topic below, and tried to attach an image to my post.
Unfortunately it seemed to not work - I got an http 500 error.
So instead I tried to post a link to the file.
But now I get a http 500 error when I try to access that topic...??

T2 Engraving / Re: Eagle cad Negative?

If you are using Eagle, in the PCB editor, just select View-Layer Settings and uncheck the bNames and tNames

Then export to PNG and it should work great in T2
Thanks :-)
Unfortunately, that's not it. Everything except bottom and pads are disabled.

Uhm.. as I wrote, I can't - can not - export to gif.
It is possible to export to an image file, but it's not a workable solution, since there's varous text that gets printed as will - some of which pretty much shorts the copper traces....  >:(
I can print to a pdf file on a A4 page format - but still my problem is to get it inverted like a negative.

what file format are you importing to t2?
Well, I'm open to suggestions here :-)
Like I mentioned, I have used the laser earlier on an enclosure. For that, I made the graphics in Libreoffice draw, and exported it as a gif.
However, I can't export a gif from Eagle  :-\

T2 Engraving / Eagle cad Negative?
« on: September 15, 2017, 01:49:09 PM »
Hey.

I found out, that I could make an etching mask, by spraying black paint on the surface, and then laser the parts to get etched. After lasing, I can easily remove the paint with a toothbrush - works wonders, and I did a nice enclosure etch this way, for a guitar pedal.

Anyways, now I'm trying to do a pcb board the same way.
I've made the layout of the pcb in EagleCad, but now I need to somehow get that design inverted, and imported into t2laser, so it will burn the parts that is supposed to get etched away....
Unfortunately I can't get EagleCad to invert it...
Can anyone help?

Anders

T2 Engraving / need help with sizes
« on: August 22, 2016, 12:08:58 PM »
Hey.

I've been messing around with t2laser, but I'm having trouble getting my designs engraved the right size.

So far I've tried making a design in libreoffice/openoffice draw, exporting as jpg, and then opening it in t2laser.
I also tried making some shapes (squares) in inkscape, and exporting them as png files, which t2laser seemed to be able to open.
Vector graphics, made in inkscape and imported according to the manual, works fine. But images are giving me trouble.
Would someone be willing to make a small walkthrough for a newbie?

Anders

General Discussion / A few noob questions
« on: August 19, 2016, 01:47:09 PM »
Hey.
Just a few quick questions:
1: On the arduino board there's a button. Does it do anything in our application?
2:  There's a trimmer pot on the eleks maker board. What does that do?

General Discussion / Need advice on what engraver to buy.
« on: August 03, 2016, 11:45:53 AM »
Hey.
I'm thinking about buying one of these engraving machines that I saw on banggood.
Honestly, I have no previous experience with laser engravers.
Mostly, I would need it to engrave faceplates for the guitar tube amps I make as a hobby. (usually 3mm plywood or mahogany).
Though occationally I'd like to be able to cut stuff too.
I'm thinking about going for the A3 size, since that would fit better with the length of my faceplates.
But what laser should I go for? 1,6? 2,5? or even 5,5???

Regards
Anders
