Hello all,   I got 2 questions ,

First ..... My machine was ok last time I use it, the home was at the bottom left, now it is at the top left, and the letter I am trying to engrave are upside down..... when I set the first time it openedwith wrong home place and it was easy to fix but I do not remember the little box to change.

Seconde ..... Some letter needs to be fully dark and some, just the outline need to be engraved, can I do it with BenCutLaser .

Thanks for your help

General Discussion / Old prusa need help
« on: June 14, 2017, 02:16:23 PM »
Hello all, I got a problem with my old printer at the start it was
a Geeetech Prusa I3 (Nov 2 1/2 years olds) with a board made
by Geeetech mega2560 all in one, then after few months the
board die,

I change it for a Ramps 1.4, flash a new firmware.... all was working
well and a few months after we change the M8 threaded lead screw
for the T8 or ACME leadscrew (more precise) and in the Repetier
there was a place to change the value of the pitch and now I totally
forgot where and how to put back on a new mega 2560 board the
specific value for the T8 rod is there someone with a basic Marlin
good for my I3 base on a Ramp 1.4 with a T8 lead-screw...

Is someone can help me to be back, I got a job to do and need
it now 1 mm on Z axis is around 6mm and I do not remember
where to change the value

General Discussion / My new printer Tronxy X1
« on: April 21, 2017, 12:34:34 PM »
Hello all,

Today I receive my new kit, Tronxy X1  for my hobby room  and it
look nice from what I can see out of the box, there is no heat bed
but because I never use ABS at my job with the 2 Prusa i3 we got

I  dont think's it will be usefull to my little printer at my appartement
model room....  where the space is more important then helping
heating the room.

My quick inspection show nothing broken, all was well pack so
it should be a very quick assembling task.

It cost me  a little byte less of 200.00 Can dollars  for the little
printer 150x150x150 base on a Melzi .v2 board .

Also it's a very open design model, it can be upgrade every where ...
not like the something cube printer you can see on the net which use
propriotary cartrige filament or component ... this one is base on
OpenBuild  extrusion same as my laser machine and at the end I still
have the Prusa as back-up for the bigger pieces

Have a nice weekend

General Discussion / Driver quality !!!
« on: April 17, 2017, 08:58:22 AM »
Hello all

Because I use 2 different laser module which got 2 different
laser driver and act very differently , my question is .....

Is there some better quality driver in term of stability of pulsing
the signal true the diode .

With my small .5w laser there was  ( is ) a steady beam light
on the output with some little or more light 100% to 0%  but
the dot was  ( is ) always regular just the intensity change
( to 100% to the 0%

But with my 2.3w laser ... the beam is steady in light  , just
variation in glow intensity at full power to 35% and 30% to 20%
it flash like a stroboscope and come back to a steady beam to
it 15% till 0%

Do you thinks it's a bad driver or something normal at this power
level ( 30 to 20% )

If it's not normal can you suggest a good laser driver for my
2.3w .... I can make the soldering  if I have to

Thanks for your times and have a nice day

General Discussion / New laser module
« on: March 28, 2017, 09:49:47 AM »
Hello friend,

Today I receive my new laser module and it's a 2.3w 445nm.

Just to be sure...

Question :  the module have two connection ... one is name
PWM/TTL and have 2 wires the others is name DC/12v. both
connector have +/- label

Which is the one to use with my board !!!

Also, it was a set of 2 wires already connected to the DC/12v conector
with at the end a female connector round similar to the little power
adapter include

For me I thinks the right one is the PWM/TTL connector, maybe I
am wrong ... the other DC/12.v  look more for a direct connection

Have a nice day

General Discussion / 10 watts laser
« on: March 22, 2017, 11:08:21 AM »
Hello all,

Does any one know if we (I  8)) can modify a non focusing laser to be a focusable laser.... is there a reason why all big power laser are without focusing ring

Is there some advantage (Max Power) to be non focusing or is it just too much power for that kind of lens ( focusing )

BenCutLaser / Why and how ..... mydrawing is to big (RESOLVED)
« on: March 10, 2017, 06:48:59 PM »
Hello all,

I draw a simple square on auto cad ....10 mm by 10 mm metric
and when I open it in Bencutlaser it's at the right size on the
ruler but when I cut it's 3 times +/- bigger

1. In autocad it show on the drawing 10x10mm
2. In Bencutlaser it show on the ruler of my working space 10x10 mm
3. But when I engrave it ... it give me a square of a bit more then 30x30 mm
4. Dimension from my caliper is 30.75 mm

What I am missing in my setup ...can it be the gears attached to
the motor !!!, do I have to specify something to Grbl

Thanks for your help

T2 Engraving / PDF or not PDF, that's the question
« on: March 08, 2017, 01:33:55 PM »

Benbox / Benbox and Grbl 1.1
« on: March 07, 2017, 08:33:59 AM »
Hello all,

Is Benbox is compatible with Grbl 1.1  ... when I install Bencutlaser
and install via Bencutlaser firmware to Grblr 1.1 Benbox did not work
anymore , Bencutlaser is better then or Benbox  but sometimes it's
good to be able to use it's simplicity  ( une tite vite ) .

Can I use both or the  fourth ....  Bencutlaser, T2 , EleksMaker , Benbox
or do I have to make my greif on Benbox

Merci and Thanks

Hello Mr Ben....

Is there a way in bencut to bring the drawing close to 0.0X0,0  ( home  ) because each time I try to cut some brick pattern it go up and smash the frame if I dont unplug the power .

I am learning ( autocad) now and ( NanoCad ) so I am not familiar with the the setup  unit and positioning my drawing in the work space there a easy way to set the position of my drawing more in the middle of my machine or near the home position

Also in Bencutlaser is there a way to select all the line in one shoot ( with the same power and speed  ) when I prepare the dxf file to be burn ( engrave  ) .... brick paternne make a lot of line to set

General Discussion / Laser 3 wires vs 2 wires
« on: March 02, 2017, 07:26:30 AM »
Hello all,

a 2 wires laser and my laser module got 3 wires.

Can I use this board with my 3 wires laser and if yes .... where
I connect the third wire... i include a picture of my boar and one
for my driver

Also my limit switch got a 3 wire connector and the board limith
switch got only 2 pins connector can I use it or do I have to order
some like in my reprap printer  2 pin limit switch

General Discussion / Laser shield windows
« on: February 27, 2017, 06:54:21 AM »
Hello all,

Last week I receive a plate of acrylic Amber 300 from a seller on
Ebay  and cost me around 20 canadian dollars with the shipping.

Also I ask the some compagny distributor if it's safe in the range of
445 nm and this morning I receive thi anwser ...yes, I include
2 pictures one fron the seller on Ebay and one from a plastic
company which distribut the acrylic... so maybe it can be a solution
for those who need some windows in a box to enclose the laser.

I will try to contact the company which make this acrylic to confirm
and see if it's safe for us

Have a nice week

General Discussion / It's Christmas
« on: February 20, 2017, 11:20:19 AM »
Hello all, just few word to let you know...

I cut my first piece of cardboard yesterday, finaly it's christmas
after almost 2 mounth it work ... thanks to all people who try
to helps me .  there is 2 things which gave me some  trouble
but I am sure will be fix soon.

1 . X axis stepper motor is geting very hot ....way more than the Y axis,
but I read somewere it's the voltage to low down, my stepper motor are
 Nema14 and use less voltage ( 3.2v)  then Nema 17 ( 5.v) and redicing
the voltage to the driver will fix this  ... I thinks  but not sure

2 . There is no weak power laser .... it light a full power in benbox when
I push the weak boutton .... Also in Bencutlaser when I connect the
com port it start the laser on  ...  probably same origine of problem !!!
I am sure to have see the same thing some where here in the past but
dont know if the guy fix it and because I want to use Bencutlaser more
than Benbox  ...I will have to solve this problem  and ... be happy to
pay my registration to the gentleman "BEN"

Again  thanks
