It would be good to know the speed and burn times for each wood or did you use the same for all?

I presume you used Outline but did you use Polyline or Continuous?

For the thicker materials did you manage to change the focus in between passes?  It would be possible to keep a record of the amount of rotation for given depth changes.

I have installed one of these in my daughter's machine http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/solder-fume-extractor-n33ch ; made a pair of brackets, cut the front back and mounted it on the side with an inlet vent on the opposite side but both able to be swapped round depending on preference for the exhaust side.  I am amazed at how little smell comes from the wood through the charcoal filter.

General Questions / Eleks Maker board

I see there are two versions of the Eleks Maker board; this is an L1 whereas I have an L2 from Benbox. The immediately noticeable difference is the the MP2307 constant current source board - with trimmer resistor and a device in the MOS position  The L2 only has what looks like an 8A  9W thyristor (LR7843 - M503?). With the 2.5W laser there are some materials or effects that would be possible with a lower power. 

I saw somewhere a reference to there being variable resistor that can be set to control the laser supply but I do not have a variable resistor fitted on my Eleks Maker board; where should this be connected and what value?  I presume this can be used to manually control the power output from laser in conjunction with setting the Laser Vcc link to Adj (Adjust).

Should there also be a component fitted to the positions marked MOS (S, L- and GND) to be used for power control?

Hello, just completed a 2.5W kit from Banggood for my daughter and we have spent the last week getting to grips with using including use of a large range of materials and settings. Below is my creation using general purpose UPVC board.

Our discovery concerning this topic is to ensure the size remains true is to save BMP files for Benbox use as 256dpi; this works with the PPM setting of 320. Also stretching an image in Benbox can make a mess of the fine resolution that the machine is capable of achieving.
