Trouble Shooting / Re: Machine keeps stopping mid project, T2 software
« Last post by Zax on December 16, 2020, 07:38:28 AM »
Alarm 3 means Grbl was reset while running G-code, this is usually due to a controller issue (firmware crashed due to bad memory) or electrical interference. It could also be due to power savings on your computer, since the Nano is powered by the USB port but that doesn't usually report an error it just stops.

I am no longer monitoring this forum so please send any support requests from my website or via e-mail. There's also an active T2Laser user support group on Facebook.
Trouble Shooting / Machine keeps stopping mid project, T2 software

Let me start off by saying that I am very new to this ,  and still learning the lingo  and Technology ...
I am consistently getting an alarm 3 error during projects. I am using the t2 software on the Universal Engraver 15000. I was able to make it about eight hours into a 17 hour project. I am seeking any and all help to get this thing running to its full potential.  I am getting no support from the Universal Engraver company.
General Discussion / Cleaning and maintaining laser engraver
« Last post by micky on December 12, 2020, 02:24:56 AM »
I've been using my Banggood A3 engraver for over four years to personalise leather goods. Usually everything just works, but this year the controller on/off button has started to fail, and sometimes I have to fiddle with it for a good few minutes before I can get it to switch on. I've started using the wall socket switch to power up/down instead of the controller button. Also the X axis makes an unpleasant grinding noise, and I occasionally get bits of dried carbon dropping down from the X axis and onto my work. The 2500 laser head seems fine, but two of the top screws have corroded (my workshop gets pretty damp this time of year). I've bought a new controller and once work gets quieter I'm going to fit this and give everything a good clean. Has anyone got any recommendations about how to clean and lubricate these machines? WD40? Light oil? Any bits I should replace when I take it all apart? Thanks!
Hello all,   I got 2 questions ,

First ..... My machine was ok last time I use it, the home was at the bottom left, now it is at the top left, and the letter I am trying to engrave are upside down..... when I set the first time it openedwith wrong home place and it was easy to fix but I do not remember the little box to change.

Seconde ..... Some letter needs to be fully dark and some, just the outline need to be engraved, can I do it with BenCutLaser .

Thanks for your help

I have grbl-1.1f installed on a couple of machines and today isolated a problem with the firmware. If a limit switch is asserted when  the CPU comes out of reset, the HOME function does not work. I ended up manually moving the rail and resetting the CPU.

I haven't done much cutting yet. Perhaps in the future. For now I'm doing mostly photo engraving. As always, thank you Zax for sharing your wisdom!
General Discussion / Etching ceramic tile

I've been have pretty good results etching white ceramic tile by painting with black or dark green high temperature paint. When it works, the ceramic surface is slightly fractured and the paint gets firmly embedded. Scratch resistant, dishwasher safe.

The downside is thin lines etched in parallel to the burn path are nice while those perpendicular are not so nice. Especially under a microscope. If the lines are 3 or more pixels wide there is no problem.

Getting the speed/power recipe correct is critical. Being off by 50mm/min can make a huge difference. Tried slowing the speed for single width pixels but it wasn't very helpful (works nice on wood). Wondering if a 45 degree burn would be better.

A popular choice is the G8 lens, another is the 3-element. The G8 has less power loss but doesn't get quite as tight a focus so in reality there's not much difference between them and all are better than the stock lens. If you are cutting then air assist will have a bigger impact than a lens swap.

Recently purchased an Eleksmaker 5.5 setup. Through my research I've found that the bigger laser doesn't focus as well but can be improved with an upgraded lens. Could someone please advise me on what would be the best option for upgrading the focusing lens and where I can purchase it from? Thank you in advance!!
