What information do we have on these boards?
« on: July 01, 2021, 05:01:08 AM »
This came with GRBL 1.1f and the laser would not fire with T2 until I flashed it with 1.1jf High Freq PWM.  It seems to want the 0 - 1000 power settings.  It also crashes a lot.  When it isnít crashing it dumps artifacts into the image. Lol.

I gave up on the F and went back to the E versions. Should you resolve the issues please post.

The 0-1000 or 0-255 make no difference to the output, it's still an 8-bit PWM so 0-255 no matter what input value is used. Resolution or granularity of the signal doesn't change.

You can use 0-1000 or any max number you like within reason on any firmware by changing the Grbl parameter ($30).

The difference with the high frequency firmware is it uses a 7.8kHz PWM instead of the usual 1.0kHz, so you get a much shorter pulse width that repeats much more often.

I would get a replacement Nano and swap it out, that may resolve your issues.

Thanks Zax, GGallant.  Someone on the FB group thought it was a Laseraxe board and had similar problems, suggested switching to an EleksMana SE.  So, we ordered three Eleksmana SE 3.2 boards, one for each machine (two of these AnnoyTool boards and my old mana clone, which we bricked, long story) As to the rez and granularity, it came with software called "LaserEngraver 3.0" which did run the lasers but the results were always crap.  Received one board yesterday, replaced the 0.9 with 1.1e and its all good. Not sure which processor I was suppose to select, I chose the nano, T2 self configured to the Mega. As far as post processor and the configure Eleks menu I just ignored them.  Any recommendations of settings for best control and data flow would be appreciated.

The defaults are what you want:
Microprocessor = Nano
Postprocessor = Grbl

The configure Eleks Mana menu is only applicable to the Eleks 0.9j firmware and only necessary if you need CoreXY or Servo (which 99% of people do not).
